Job Description

Process Operator Apprentice

Huntsman is currently recruiting for an Apprentice Process Operator at our chemical manufacturing site in Llanelli.

The site manufactures a range of Amine products and has customers worldwide across related industries.

Under the supervision of experienced Process Operators, you will be given progressive responsibility throughout your apprenticeship to operate the unit safely and profitably, maximizing site profitability while maintaining Huntsman’s commitment to Zero Harm.

You will study on a one-day release at The Cardiff & Vale College in Barry for a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Process Technology (NVQ Level). Site Engineers will support your learning to gain a full understanding of the unit operations at the site.

You will gain knowledge and skills in:

  • Fluid flow including transfer operations such as pumping and compression of fluids
  • Boiler operation and steam generation
  • Reaction chemistry
  • Distillation operation
  • Operation of a Distributed Control System to run the process units

The successful applicant will work a 12-hour shift rotation (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off, then 18 days off), subject to college requirements. An attractive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for continuous personal development within a global organization, will be offered.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a foundation year Mechanical or Electrical apprenticeship program (merit or distinction) OR GCSEs in Maths, Science, and English at Grade C+.
  • The ability to work successfully within a team environment.
  • A high level of motivation and a desire for continuous learning.
