Apprentice Neighbourhood Coordinator

Location: Oldham (hybrid)

Salary: National Minimum wage (depending on age)

Job Type: Fixed-Term (15 months)

The Apprentice Neighbourhood Co-ordinator supports the delivery of high-quality tenancy and neighbourhood management services by providing excellent customer service to improve residents' lives. This 15-month training programme aims to equip you with the necessary skills, experience, and on-the-job training related to Neighbourhood Management. You will be involved in tenancy and property management, addressing neighbourhood issues, tenancy enforcement, lettings, and premises management, including compliance issues.

You will work towards FCHO's vision, demonstrating its values and promoting positive practices related to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Health & Safety, Wellbeing, and Safeguarding.

Responsibilities include:

  • Shadowing Neighbourhood Coordinators to deliver high-quality tenancy management, including home visits, calls, and interviews to ensure tenancy agreements are adhered to, covering tenancy reviews, decants, exchanges, succession requests, and abandoned tenancies.
  • Learning about prevention, early intervention, and enforcement approaches in collaboration with partner agencies, including joint visits, signposting, referrals, and attending multi-agency meetings.
  • Supporting vulnerable tenants to sustain their tenancies, in line with policies and legislation.
  • Identifying safeguarding issues related to adults and children, domestic violence, mental health, and substance misuse, and knowing referral procedures.
  • Developing communication skills to handle complex situations, utilizing conflict management, and understanding customer diversity.
  • Shadowing multi-agency teams and participating in community events for community benefit.
  • Managing some customer communications, conducting assessments over the phone, and addressing neighbourhood issues like fly tipping.
  • Understanding and assisting in managing the void process, including inspections and communication with customers to ensure quality standards.
  • Collaborating with the Income Collection Team to maximize income, providing debt and benefit advice, and supporting tenants in accordance with the Welfare Reform Act 2012.
  • Building internal and external partnerships to understand FCHO's wider operations.
  • Supporting Neighbourhood Coordinators to achieve targets related to service delivery, income, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintaining accurate records and complying with GDPR.
  • Undertaking additional duties as reasonably assigned by your line manager.
