Job description

Farrel Ltd is offering an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Machining Apprentice. This is a great opportunity to develop new skills and build a career. The successful applicant will become a competent member of the Machining Team. A machinist apprentice can set up tools such as milling machines, grinders, lathes, and drilling machines.

Candidates who show the right attitudes and behaviours will be supported to progress and study to NVQ L4 or higher.

Responsibilities:
  • Supporting colleagues with product machining, assembly, and testing.
  • Working enthusiastically to accept the necessary training required in all areas.
  • Producing components using a range of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, and grinding (all manual machines).
  • Gaining familiarity with the range of company products and processes.
  • Working safely at all times, following all company safety rules, and maintaining a tidy work area. The wearing of appropriate PPE at all times is essential.

Upon qualification, the position will include servicing and repairing clients’ equipment, from heavy plant machinery to other general mechanical work. This will involve working on-site and, on occasion, off-site at customer premises located worldwide.

Training will be on-site at Rochdale Training for the first year of your apprenticeship.

Working hours: Mon to Thursday – 8.30 am to 4.00 pm, Friday - 8.30 am to 3.00 pm.
