Job summary

GTG Training Limited is recruiting an Apprentice Mechanic at an independent garage in West Calder, Scotland. The Modern Apprenticeship Programme lets you work full time and earn while you learn, with week block releases for training.

During a 3-year apprenticeship you will train through GTG to SCQF Level 7 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, with dedicated mentors guiding you. Candidates should have National 4+ in English, Maths and a Science or Technical subject, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Must have or expect National 4+ in English, Maths, and either a Science or Technical Subject.
• Full UK driving licence is not essential but preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance within the garage workshop.
• Assist with servicing, MOT preparation, removal/replacement and overhaul of major components, and electrical fault diagnostics.
• Participate in regular assessments and reviews with GTG mentors to ensure progress and skill development.

GTG Training are recruiting for an Apprentice Mechanic on behalf of an independent garage.This is a fantastic opportunity for those who are ready to advance their career within the automotive industry.

The Modern Apprenticeship Programmes allow apprentices to work full time andearn while they learn putting theory into practice within a training environment.

As well as attending the training centre for week block release of training, regular assessment and reviews will be undertaken within the apprentice's own workplace with dedicated mentors from GTG and the apprentice's workplace, which aims to ensure they have the required skills to successfully complete their apprenticeship.

What Might a Typical Day in this Job look like?

You will be based within the garage workshop and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, removal, replacement and overhaul of major components and electrical fault diagnostics.

Examples of the units covered are:

• Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment
• Inspection of light vehicles
• Diagnosing and rectifying chassis units and components
• Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle engines and component faults
• Ensuring your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
• Contributing to workplace good housekeeping

What will I learn?
