The Position

The Apprentice Manufacturing Engineer will support the manufacturing engineering team in optimizing and improving production processes, specifically focusing on CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining operations.

This role is designed for individuals who are eager to develop skills in manufacturing engineering, with a particular emphasis on CNC technology. Through practical experience and structured training, the apprentice will gain expertise in CNC programming, machine operation, and process improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
  • Follow Mpac’s health and safety rules, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Complete the required coursework & hands on training as part of the apprenticeship programme, progressively developing into a fully qualified electrical technician.
  • Ensure the correct use of tools and equipment, reporting any issues to your supervisor.
  • Assist in the programming, setup, and operation of CNC machines for precision manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to optimize CNC machining processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes through analysis, problem-solving, and process optimization.
  • Assist in the design and modification of CNC tooling and fixtures to improve production efficiency.
  • Support the manufacturing team in the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and quality control practices.
Outputs/Deliverables
  • Consistently deliver high quality work and meet deadlines set by your supervisor while learning and applying new technical skills.
  • Adhere to our safety guidelines and standards.
  • Successfully meet the requirements for the apprenticeship programme, including achieving relevant qualifications.
  • Demonstrate improvement in technical capabilities, problem solving and hands on experience as a electrical technician.

Knowledge and Experience
  • A strong desire to learn about Manufacturing and technology.
  • We welcome applicants who are new to the industry and looking to gain experience. However, any exposure to electrical concepts or school-level work in subjects like mathematics is helpful.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and learn from experienced team members.
  • A basic understanding of how to approach simple problems, with guidance from senior staff.
  • Being dependable, punctual, and prepared to engage in the learning process.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
  • Must be 16 years old or older.
  • To qualify you will have to have GCSEs (Grade 5 or above) in Mathematics and English language.
  • A keen interest in Computer Numerical Control and how the process works.
  • Clear communication with supervisors and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
  • A general understanding of safety practices (though full training will be provided).
  • A positive attitude towards learning new skills and developing professionally.
