ROLE: Apprentice Maintenance Technician
CONTRACT TYPE: fixed term for 36 months leading to permanent role
HOURS: Monday to Friday; 08:00-16:30 and 16:00 Friday hours half hour lunch
SALARY: Weekly paid (£ 8:00 starting salary increasing on successful completion of the apprenticeship)

Once fully trained and qualified, you will carry out the installation and maintenance of new and existing equipment and machinery within the company’s extrusion/production facilities so that our uPVC products can be manufactured with minimal, or zero interruption caused by equipment/machinery failure.

WHAT OUR APPRENTICE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANS DO:

• Fault finding/trouble shooting for breakdowns and equipment failure, both mechanical and electrical, using original equipment manufacturer (OEM) diagnostic software and manual processes
• Using technical drawings to maintain and install equipment
• Completing proactive/preventative and responsive/corrective maintenance schedules
• Making decisions about equipment safety and power
• Delivering high standards of operational excellence

WHAT WE NEED FROM OUR APPRENTICE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANS:

• Wants to learn and progress and build a career
• Good work ethic and time keeping
• Grade 4 English and Maths
• Technical mindset/aptitude
• Basic IT skills
• Previous team working evidence eg sports team; social activities (Desirable)
• Ability to follow detailed instructions (Desirable)
• Ability to work out maths problems; trigonometry (Desirable)

Our recruitment day will consist of an interview discussion with the head of maintenance and other colleagues and we will give you some activities to complete to help give you a feel for the work that’s involved and enable us a chance to see you follow some instructions in a working environment.
