Do you have a passion for vehicles and want to understand how to maintain them? We have an exciting opportunity to become a Vehicle Technician Apprentice in the John Lewis Partnership. Our Light Commercial Vehicle Technicians are the backbone of our logistics network, ensuring shelves are stocked and customers are satisfied. Technicians are encouraged to manage their time proactively to maintain our Commercial Fleet.
You’ll gain the qualifications needed for the role and have the opportunity to secure a permanent Light Vehicle Technician position upon completing your apprenticeship.
This role is based at our Magna Park Vehicle Workshop in Milton Keynes.
This is a permanent position with a starting pay rate of £12.45 per hour. During the first year, you'll work Monday to Friday, 8am - 4pm. From year 2 onwards, you'll work flexibly across all shifts to broaden your understanding of our operations.
We are recruiting candidates to start in August 2025.
As an Apprentice Light Vehicle Technician, you will work alongside qualified Technicians in our Workshops, learning to perform services, inspections, and repairs on heavy vehicles. Your tasks will range from replacing simple parts to diagnosing and fixing complex faults using diagnostic tools. You will work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of vehicle systems and related components.

Training combines on-the-job learning and seven-week training blocks annually at S&B’s Automotive Academy in Bristol. Apprentices will travel and stay in hotel accommodation, with all costs covered by the Partnership.
You will have a workplace mentor and a college mentor supporting your progress, monitored via an electronic logbook accessible at any time.
End of each year, apprentices undertake a Gateway Assessment to progress towards the End Point Assessment.
The apprenticeship lasts approximately 3 years, culminating in a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician - Light Vehicles.
English and Maths GCSE Grade C or Level 4
