The University of Southampton seeks dedicated individuals for a Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship at the Future Towns Innovation Hub. This is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a high-tech environment equipped with a variety of tools and equipment. You’ll work alongside a dedicated technical team to support the development, maintenance, and efficient operation of our environmental research laboratories.
Upon successful completion of the Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship, you’ll progress into a Level 2b Technical and Experimental (TAE) role at the University.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, pay will be the lowest spine point of Level 2b, which is Spine Point 17, £26,942 full-time equivalent.
In year one of the apprenticeship, pay will be 60 per cent of this lowest spine point value, increasing to 70 per cent in year two, and 80 per cent in year three.
NB: Notwithstanding the provisions above, all apprentices will receive a salary at least equal to the applicable National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage rate for their age, where this exceeds the contractual provisions.
