Job description

Our primary customer is Northumbria Healthcare NHS FT, which provides health and social care services in primary care, acute hospitals, community hospitals, and adult social care (PACS) through 10,000 employed staff. Northumbria Healthcare’s Digital Services team provides all the technology and technical development to support current electronic systems and the drive to be paper-free at the point of care.

The role of the Digital Services Apprentice is to support existing PC equipment and software applications, along with deploying new equipment and software.

An Apprenticeship Education Programme is an integrated work-based training and development programme. It offers an excellent opportunity to start your NHS career while gaining knowledge and competencies leading to a nationally accredited apprenticeship qualification and potential future career progression.

Duties for this role include:
  1. Assist in providing support for all IT services, software, and mobile devices throughout the Trust, including installation of PC hardware, software, and peripherals.
  2. Investigate routine enquiries and queries from staff, providing assistance and advice as required.
  3. Order, install, and configure new IT equipment and services.
  4. Manage and maintain documentation relevant to the role.
  5. Ensure new equipment and services are installed and configured promptly, in line with Trust standards and service levels.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve basic Service Desk support calls efficiently, adhering to Trust standards and service levels.
  7. Work within the Trust IM&T Security Policy at all times, ensuring all supported systems comply.
  8. Undertake staff training and development as required, attending all team and departmental meetings.
  9. Update systems appropriately to track the lifecycle of IT assets within the Trust.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, plus several smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick-on-Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. We lead in innovation and quality, exemplified by opening the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England.

Would you like to work in one of the best-performing NHS organizations in England? An organization that supports its staff and prioritizes staff experience as much as patient experience? You can live in an area with the cleanest air, affordable living, vibrant nightlife, excellent schools, and rich history. This is the Northumbria Way! Please read the ‘applicant guidance notes’ before submitting your application.
