Job summary

A regional education trust is seeking an IT Support Technician to provide customer service and on-site support. This part-time role involves device management and IT project participation through an apprenticeship. Ideal candidates should be enthusiastic, motivated, and able to learn technical skills quickly. Upon completing the apprenticeship, a permanent role may be available with a salary adjustment.

Overview

IT Support Technician
Whole Year, Part Time working 30 hours per week
Fixed Term initial for duration of Apprenticeship. On successful completion, transition to permanent role
Salary: National Apprenticeship Wage: £7.55 per hour during Apprenticeship phase
Upon completion of qualification, salary will be Grade 4: (SCP5-6) £25,583 to £25,989 per annum pro rata
Actual salary: £20,743 to £21,072 per annum

Due to the expansion of the Trust’s Central IT Team, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is looking to build a successful career in IT. This role is perfect for someone with the ability to learn technical skills quickly.

Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to schools across the Trust via the helpdesk, and provide on site support for colleagues in the Central Team.
  • Support the build and deployment of devices and maintain the asset register.
  • Contribute to important Trust IT projects and do work shadowing with colleagues to gain real experience and insight.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Enthusiastic and motivated with the ability to learn technical skills quickly.
  • Confident in using the telephone and have good written communication skills to respond to problems.
  • Willingness to undertake an Apprenticeship and engage in professional development after completion.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team in a supportive environment.
What we offer and timelines

The successful candidate will join a small and friendly team at a key time as we implement a new helpdesk solution and will be learning via an Apprenticeship. After qualification, professional development will be reviewed with opportunities to enhance knowledge.
