We have an exciting opportunity for a Highway Network Technician to join our team at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, while studying towards a Level 3 Civil Engineering apprenticeship.

As an Apprentice Highway Network Technician, you will support the Extreme Weather Engineer in managing and communicating extreme weather events, helping to minimise their impact on the highway network. You will also play a key role in developing plans and strategies to manage the network effectively, reducing disruption through well-planned traffic management for street works and events.

Please note, this is a fixed-term apprenticeship lasting up to 36 months.

What skills and experience do you need?

We are looking for someone passionate about working for our community with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum qualifications of 5 GCSE/Level 2 Qualifications (Grade C/4 or above), including English Language, Maths, and Science.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to the full duration of the apprenticeship, demonstrating reliability, motivation, and the ability to balance work and study responsibilities.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills—apprenticeships are designed for those ready to grow through hands-on experience and training. Please outline in your personal statement how you meet these criteria.
