Job summary

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Healthcare Apprentice to develop a career in healthcare. This role offers full-time placements across the Secure Care Division while completing an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care. This role offers placements across the Secure Care Division while undertaking an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care Framework at level 2, attending Hugh Baird College weekly for the duration of the course. The apprenticeship lasts 12 months.

    The division provides specialized secure mental health and learning disability services in various secure settings for individuals with mental illness, personality disorders, learning disabilities, and autism.

    Applicants should not already hold a CQF in Health and Social Care at Level 2 or a full Level 2 apprenticeship in health and social care.

    A recruitment and retention premia (£600 - £4,034) is available, depending on allocations determined by the service, reflecting each specific clinical placement during rotations.

    Main duties of the job

    The Healthcare Apprentice role in the Secure Care Division provides valuable experience working in a specialist environment while completing an Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework at level 2. The role involves direct care and observation of Service Users under supervision, participating in shift work, and attending educational sessions. Successful completion may lead to a Band 3 Nursing Assistant position.
