This is an exciting opportunity to join South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust as an Apprentice Healthcare Assistant. Successful applicants will undertake a formal apprenticeship training programme to gain the knowledge, skills, and competence to work as a Healthcare Assistant.
The apprentice will complete the Care Certificate in the first three months and will be allocated a mentor and buddy to support their development. Alongside the Care Certificate, apprentices will complete a Level 2 apprenticeship standard to ensure consistent practice in the role.
The apprenticeship lasts 18 months, with regular reviews to assess progress. Apprentices will start on Annex 21 of the salary scale. To support role development, the postholder must complete a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship Standard during the apprenticeship period. GCSE Grade D/3 or Level 1 equivalent in Maths and English is essential. Upon successful completion, the apprentice will move into a substantive position.
Note: Annex 21 is an NHS training allowance, a percentage of the banding.
