Job summary

Leeds City College is recruiting an Apprentice Teacher – Hairdressing to join the School of Hair, Beauty and Media Make‑up at the Printworks campus. You will develop schemes of work, deliver teaching, and gain a Level 5 Certificate in Education through an internal program with University Centre Leeds.

The apprenticeship runs for 24 months and includes support, with on‑the‑job learning and formal assessment, leading to Qualified Teacher status upon completion.

Qualifications

• Willing to work toward Level 5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
• Relevant vocational qualifications in Hairdressing.
• English and Maths at Level 2 or above, with willingness to improve to Level 3+.
• Up-to-date subject knowledge and recent delivery in FE or school sector.
• Experience delivering a range of levels across the curriculum with active learning and differentiated teaching.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop schemes of work and lesson resources, including online materials.
• Deliver inclusive teaching sessions across the curriculum using varied methods.
• Design and deliver assessments with timely, constructive feedback.
• Build positive relationships with learners and provide guidance to promote progression.
• Collaborate within a friendly team to maintain a positive learning environment.
