MDS Civil Engineering Ltd. specializes in Groundwork and Civil Engineering, including Housing, Commercial, and Infrastructure projects. We are involved from the initial viability assessments, land purchase, design, to construction. Our approach utilises the latest cut and fill programmes and digitised take-off systems, producing comprehensive bills of quantities from a fully computerised estimating package. We provide early-stage advice to minimise construction costs and achieve optimal results.
This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in all aspects of groundworks. You will work onsite alongside experienced operatives, gaining practical knowledge in drainage, foundations, road and footpath construction, slab laying, curb laying, and driveway construction.
Most of your apprenticeship will be spent working on-site, learning through direct experience.
You will be required to study towards the Groundworker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard at Colchester Institute.
As a brief outline, your tasks may include preparing construction sites for shallow foundations, removing sewage, redirecting waterways, concreting, and laying curbs and flagstones. You will work alongside experienced groundworkers, assisting with various site tasks. Daily contact will be with Nicky Collins.
The apprenticeship includes time away from work for specialised training to develop your professional skills and knowledge.

Your training course: Groundworker (Level 2)
Your training plan involves studying towards the Groundworker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard at Colchester Institute, with college attendance scheduled for 1 day per week at the Colchester Campus.
Please inform the company of any relevant qualifications or industry experience. The apprenticeship can be tailored to your existing knowledge.
This role involves outdoor work in all weather conditions.
