We are involved from the initial viability assessments, land purchase, design, to construction. Our approach utilises the latest cut and fill programmes and digitised take-off systems, producing comprehensive bills of quantities from a fully computerised estimating package. We provide early-stage advice to minimise construction costs and achieve optimal results.

Job Outline

This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in all aspects of groundworks. You will work onsite alongside experienced operatives, gaining practical knowledge in drainage, foundations, road and footpath construction, slab laying, curb laying, and driveway construction.

Most of your apprenticeship will be spent working on-site, learning through direct experience.

What you'll do at work

You will be required to study towards the Groundworker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard at Colchester Institute.

As a brief outline, your tasks may include preparing construction sites for shallow foundations, removing sewage, redirecting waterways, concreting, and laying curbs and flagstones. You will work alongside experienced groundworkers, assisting with various site tasks. Daily contact will be with Nicky Collins.

Training to be provided

The apprenticeship includes time away from work for specialised training to develop your professional skills and knowledge.

College or training organisation: COLCHESTER INSTITUTE

Your training course: Groundworker (Level 2)

Your training plan involves studying towards the Groundworker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard at Colchester Institute, with college attendance scheduled for 1 day per week at the Colchester Campus.
