Job Description:

Join us, be part of more.

We’re more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers, a team of 21,000 colleagues energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, while living our commitment to positive change in communities. Here, you find purpose, passion, and potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently — we make, store, move, sell, and mend it.

About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell and mend energy solutions.

We’ve powered UK homes and businesses for over 200 years. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, moving towards Net Zero, using tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV chargers to help customers reduce their carbon footprint.

About your role:

We seek passionate individuals ready to dive into Gas Engineering. Age, gender, background? Just your drive and passion matter.

At our academies, you’ll learn, earn qualifications, and become a top-tier Gas Engineer — a household hero. Under experienced engineers, you’ll learn to service, maintain, repair, or upgrade central heating systems.

This is a hands-on, skill-building role that impacts families daily, keeping homes warm and kettles boiling.

We offer a competitive starting salary of £17,850, rising to £43,733 when fully qualified and performing at the level of our experienced engineers (plus London weighting up to £6K).

Requirements:

  • 4 GCSEs including Maths & English at grade C/4 or above or equivalent
  • A CV showing passion for learning a trade, mechanical or technical aptitude, and customer service skills
  • A full UK driving license with 6 points or less
  • Availability for training at UK-wide academies, with accommodation and travel provided if needed

We’re recruiting extensively in 2025 across various locations. If selected, we’ll contact you, possibly later in the year. Please be patient. All applicants will be informed of outcomes.

We are hiring in:

  • Northern England - Cheadle & Stockport
  • The Midlands - Derby & Nth Derby
  • Eastern England - Cambridge E & W
  • Southeast England - multiple locations including Windsor
  • Southwest England - Bristol, Somerset

Benefits:

  • Starting salary of £17,850, rising to £25,485 at week 52, and typically £32,886 at week 104
  • Post-program salary of £43,733 plus bonuses
  • London Weighting Allowance (£4,000–£6,000)
  • Expensed electric van and EV charge point
