Housing Repairs Service Trades Apprenticeship Advert

Sheffield City Council's Housing Repairs Service carries out repairs and maintenance to over 50,000 Council homes.

This year, we are offering 16 Apprenticeship opportunities to launch your career in the Trades services, starting in September 2025.

The 16 Apprenticeship opportunities are available across six different Trades: Gas Fitters, Plumbers, Joiners, Plasterers, Painters, and Bricklayers.

As an Apprentice, you will:

1. Receive a competitive rate of pay while you learn.
2. Be fully funded to complete a recognised qualification.
3. Receive one day off the job per week for study leave at college during term time.
4. Gain hands-on/practical experience in an experienced team environment.
5. Have access to a supportive peer network.
6. Potentially secure a permanent job with us upon successful completion of your Apprenticeship.

Qualifications:

For Gas Fitters, we are looking for (or working towards) a Grade 5 / Strong Pass in English and Maths.

For Plumbers, Joiners, Plasterers, Painters, and Bricklayers, we are looking for (or working towards) a Grade 4 / Standard Pass in English and Maths.

Interviews will take place in June and July.
