Job summary

Sanctuary Group is offering a fixed term gas engineering apprenticeship in Rochford. It runs for 18 months plus a 3‑month EPA period, with a starting salary of £20,966.40 per year.

You'll learn on the job while working toward a Domestic Natural Gas Installation and Maintenance - Level 3 qualification with Barking and Dagenham College. You’ll join a team delivering reactive maintenance, boiler and heating system work, and customer service as part of Sanctuary Property Services across Sanctuary

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including Maths and English.
  • Willingness to learn and dedication to a practical gas engineering role.
  • Full UK driving license or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reactive gas maintenance and repair services.
  • Perform boiler and heating system replacements and basic installations.
  • Develop customer service skills to support safety and service quality.

Fixed term contract for 18 months plus 3 months EPA, total 21 months

Are you looking for your next step or change in career? Our Apprenticeship programme gives you a hands‑on experience, all whilst working towards a qualification in partnership with our training provider, Barking and Dagenham College.

Gas Engineering apprentices will work alongside fully qualified gas engineers, working on all different types of gas appliances, including servicing, repairs and maintenance as well as installations of new appliances and heating systems, gaining as much experience as possible whilst also attending day release at college. You will gain a Domestic Natural Gas Installation and Maintenance - Level 3, nationally recognised qualification at the end. All of this will be supported by the team around you, ensuring you are getting the best out of your apprenticeship!

What will you do?

You will work in a team in Rochford region. This opportunity will give you a chance to earn valuable practical experience in providing a reactive gas Maintenance & Repair service, undertake gas boiler and heating system replacements, along with learning invaluable customer service skills essential to build and maintain a successful career in the gas and renewable industry.

What skills and abilities do I need to have?

On top of this, practical skills we are looking for are;

  • A minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including/or equivalent in Maths and English
  • A keen interest in practical and technically challenging workloads within a rewarding gas and renewable industry
  • Good practical and problem-solving skills
  • Hold a full UK driving license, or be willing to undertake driving lessons with a view to holding a full UK driving license, in order to drive a company vehicle on completion of your apprenticeship
