Job Description

A forklift truck service engineer has a real responsibility, working on their own initiative to diagnose and solve problems.

You are the one the customer relies upon to get his business up to speed.

Good engineers are in high demand and this will only increase over the years to come.

As a workshop engineer, you will service and repair forklifts. You will be trained in all aspects of service engineering within the industry, including hydraulics, LPG, and electric systems – putting your skills to the test daily to find and fix problems.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Learn how to install, repair, and carry out planned maintenance of customer forklift trucks to Crown specifications. Complete an engineering apprenticeship, including modules and college attendance as necessary.
  2. Work shadow colleagues and develop understanding of workshop procedures through on-the-job training.
  3. Attend manufacturer training and other relevant courses.
  4. Learn Crown administrative procedures, including completing worksheets and timesheets.
  5. Assist in keeping customer trucks secure and clean while in the workshop.
  6. Ensure the security and proper use of all tools and spares issued.
  7. Understand and adhere to all Crown, legislative, and Health and Safety procedures.
  8. Ensure all work meets industry and Crown standards under supervision.
  9. Build and maintain good relationships with customers, colleagues, and managers.
  10. Undertake additional duties as reasonably requested by Crown.
Person Specification
  • Willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions.
  • Interest in engineering.
  • Friendly demeanor and ability to build relationships.
  • A*-C grades or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • IT literacy, familiar with Word, Excel, or similar software.
  • Efficient and accurate work ethic.
  • Highly motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible, dependable, and practical with an interest in science or engineering, no prior experience required.
Additional Details

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.

Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
