Job description

At Sage, innovation starts with our people. With over 13,000 colleagues across 40 locations worldwide and more than 2 million customers, we’re united by a shared purpose: to transform the way millions of businesses work. As a global leader in AI, finance and HR software, we harness cutting‑edge technology to simplify complexity and drive progress.

We’re now looking for curious, technology‑focused apprentices to join one of two teams; our Developer Centre of Excellence and Domain Services teams. We are looking for people who want to help shape how internal teams and external partners experience and integrate with Sage’s platforms, while earning a recognised Level 4 qualification at the same time.

Why join Sage as an Apprentice?

This isn’t a passive learning programme. From day one, you’ll work on real challenges alongside experienced colleagues in Engineering, Product and Design, with structured development, mentoring, and hands‑on delivery.

Key Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Enablement Engineer, you’ll join a global team supporting the adoption and successful use of either Domain Services products and services or Sage Developer Portal and associated services. You’ll help create documentation, technical assets and onboarding experiences that enable internal teams and external partners to integrate with our platforms, building your knowledge of APIs, integrations, developer experience, AI‑assisted ways of working and modern software engineering practices as you go.

You’ll:

  • Support engineering teams and partners who are integrating with Domain Services capabilities
  • Support Sage Technical Authors in the provision of technical documentation for partners and other Sage colleagues
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, onboarding guides and knowledge articles
  • Help improve self‑service resources and technical assets that make integrations easier to understand and use
  • Work with internal teams and, where appropriate, external partners to understand questions, issues and onboarding needs
  • Support testing and validation activities, with guidance from experienced colleagues
  • Learn and apply modern software engineering practices, tools and ways of working
  • Use AI‑powered tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, to support learning, research, content creation and problem solving, reviewing AI‑generated outputs carefully to check they are accurate, appropriate and useful
  • Look for opportunities to reduce manual work through better documentation, templates, automation or AI‑assisted tools
  • Contribute ideas for improving processes, documentation and the overall developer experience
  • Be an active, positive and collaborative member of the team
What we are looking for

We welcome applications from people who are at the start of their career and ready to learn. You don’t need a degree or prior experience in software engineering, what matters most is your genuine interest in technology, your curiosity, and a desire to continuously develop.

To meet the entry requirements for the Level 4 apprenticeship, you’ll need:
  • Five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4, including English and Maths
  • Plus one of the following: an A‑level, a Level 3 Apprenticeship or vocational qualification, ideally in IT, Computer Science, or a related STEM or vocational subject

Beyond that, you’ll stand out if you:

  • Have a genuine interest in technology, software development and digital products
  • Are willing to learn about APIs, integrations, cloud technologies and developer tools
  • Bring curiosity, problem‑solving skills and a desire to continuously develop
  • Communicate clearly and work well with others, comfortable collaborating with technical teams and asking clear questions
  • Can organise your work and manage tasks with guidance from others
  • Are interested in using modern technologies, including AI‑assisted tools, to improve learning and productivity, while using good judgement and asking for support when needed
  • Bring a positive attitude, take accountability for your own development, and are willing to learn from feedback

It would also be an advantage if you have a basic understanding of software development concepts, exposure to tools such as GitHub, Visual Studio Code or API testing tools, experience of using Microsoft Copilot or other AI tools as part of learning, study or personal projects, or an interest in developer experience, technical documentation or platform technologies, but none of these are essential.

Alongside your day‑to‑day role, you’ll study towards a recognised Level 4 Applications Support Lead apprenticeship qualification. The programme is designed to give you both the technical grounding and the professional skills to build a long‑term career in engineering enablement, developer experience and platform technologies.

By the time you complete the programme, you’ll have a strong foundation in modern software engineering practices, technical communication, and developer enablement, giving you the skills and professional credibility to grow your career at Sage and beyond.

Benefits of working at Sage include
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays from day one
  • Paid time to learn (5 learning days a year)
  • Paid time to give back (5 volunteering days a year)
  • Private healthcare, digital GP & wellbeing support
  • Competitive pension with Sage contributions
  • Paid parental leave, inclusive from day one
  • Work from abroad for up to 10 weeks a year
What to expect from the process
  • Apply online with your CV
  • If eligible, you will be invited to complete a video interview
  • If successful, you’ll be invited to a final stage assessment
  • Successful candidates will join us in October 2026

We’re committed to an inclusive process for everyone. If you need any adjustments at any stage, please get in touch at earlycareersadjustments@sage.com
