Job description

Contract Type: Fixed Term for 18 months

Working Hours: 37 - Full Time, which will involve a minimum of 6 hours per week for training for the apprenticeship

Worker Type: Hybrid Worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £31,586 (Level one) rising to £32,115 (Level two) on the first-year anniversary, subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period.

About the Role

Are you a motivated, approachable person with an enthusiasm for technology and an interest in how technology can support customers and colleagues? If you’re looking for the opportunity to make a difference and follow a stimulating career, we welcome an application to join us as an Apprentice Digital Support Technician. The role will involve working on digital projects within the Sport and Leisure service area, assisting in the smooth running of our customer service, marketing systems, and internal systems, and providing support to colleagues and customers alike. Be a champion of Active Nottingham and encourage users to be proactive in getting the most out of the technology available.

As part of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake the Digital Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship and will be paid for through the Government’s Apprenticeship Levy. This will involve a minimum of 6 hours a week being committed to learning and training that takes place off the job. The exact amount will be confirmed at the applicant’s initial assessment. The duration for this apprenticeship is 18 months.

Apprenticeships are no longer limited to a specific age group and are available to anyone aged 16 and over who is not in full-time education and is eligible to work and study in the UK. An apprenticeship is a combination of employment and training that leads to a nationally recognised qualification upon completion.

As an employer, we will be committed to ensuring that a structured plan is in place to support and enable you to complete your apprenticeship. More information about the content of the apprenticeship can be found at Digital Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.

To ensure that prior qualifications and experience won’t prevent enrolment onto the apprenticeship, confirmation will be sought in advance of the invitation to interview.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for digital innovation, be organised and enthusiastic with drive, determination and a strong emphasis on excellent customer service, with an ability to pay attention to detail and work to deadlines. Previous experience working in an office environment is desirable.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Broad experience of being able to communicate effectively face to face, by telephone and in writing.

• Be able to articulate and converse with confidence and in an effective manner when liaising with customers and providing guidance and advice where appropriate.

• Ability to liaise with other colleagues or partners to resolve customers’ issues.

• Awareness of GDPR legislation and IT security policies (and their importance in customer-facing environments).

• Knowledge of digital platforms and websites (Google, WordPress, Apps, Social Media etc.).

• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and IT Software and the ability to learn new bespoke software systems, solutions and procedures.

• Ability to work co-operatively and flexibly with minimal supervision.

• Willingness and a commitment to undertake a Digital Support Technician level 3 apprenticeship on commencement of employment. This is expected to take approximately 18 months.

• To not be overqualified already in the topic of the apprenticeship – to ensure that prior qualifications and experience won’t prevent enrolment onto the apprenticeship, confirmation will be sought in advance of the invitation to interview.

• You should hold level 2 or equivalent (GCSE grade C/4 or higher) English and Mathematics, or you will need to commit to achieving these during the course.
