Job description

To assist in the research, planning and production of high-quality video and podcast content aimed at a variety of audiences across multiple channels, including but not limited to, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, the Historic Royal Palaces’ website and digital installations as part of exhibitions at the palaces. The role will support Historic Royal Palaces’ ambition to reach and engage more people nationally and internationally with compelling digital content that tells the history and stories of our six palaces and shares the work the charity does in caring for them.

You will work as a member of the Digital Engagement department in the Public Engagement directorate alongside a dedicated team of digital professionals who produce and manage a broad range of products, projects and content including: the charity’s website, YouTube, podcasts, online courses, Digital Visitor Guide (DVG), virtual tours, apps and partnerships with organisations such as Google Arts & Culture. You will also work in collaboration with departments within Public Engagement and across the wider organisation to create and deliver the content.

Alongside Your Studies You Will

  1. Support the research, planning and production of high-quality video and podcast content.
  2. Work with Digital Producers and Assistant Digital Producer to generate and develop innovative ideas for new content.
  3. Assist with the pre-production planning of on location and in studio film shoots and audio recordings, preparing and managing production paperwork including production schedules, risk assessments, call sheets and operations orders.
  4. Collaborate with relevant internal departments, including Visitor Services, Security and Conservation & Collections Care (CCC) to arrange access to locations and to plan and safely manage productions.
  5. Support with booking contributors and crew.
  6. Assist with managing film crews on location, ensuring that all suppliers adhere to internal procedures regarding safe filming at the palaces.
  7. Assist in the capture of film and audio on location and in studio.
  8. Assist with editing film, audio and images using Adobe Creative Suite, as well as licensing images and music from third party providers.
  9. Assist with managing and backing up video, audio and images files on our servers and systems.
  10. Produce accessible transcriptions of videos and podcasts using transcription tools and software.
  11. Assist with writing titles and descriptions for videos and podcasts, ensuring the copy is SEO optimised to maximise the content’s discoverability in search.
  12. Assist with uploading content to YouTube and Libsyn, our podcast hosting platform, liaising with Digital Producers and Assistant Digital Producer to schedule content release and to maximise reach and engagement.
Requirements

More than anything we are looking for potential, but, as this Apprenticeship starts at level 3 we do have a few eligibility requirements:

  1. You must be 18 years old or over on 1st September 2025.
  2. Live in UK (resident in country role is based).
  3. You must not have completed a degree or equivalent level qualification in the UK or elsewhere and not already be in full-time education.
  4. You must have a minimum of Level 2 in Maths and English.
