Job description

Are you ready to start a rewarding career in digital engineering within the built environment? CWA is looking for talented individuals to join our team as Apprentice Digital Engineering Technicians, contributing to the monumental Sizewell C project. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, playing a critical role in our energy future.


What You’ll Do: As an Apprentice Digital Engineering Technician, you’ll produce detailed solutions to optimize the performance of built environment projects through digital models and presentations. You’ll support Digital Engineers and other specialists using cutting-edge digital engineering techniques such as:

  1. Virtualisation and simulation of design, construction, and management of assets.
  2. Digital measurement of design, production, and management of assets.
  3. Communicating complex engineering principles to stakeholders digitally.
  4. Integrating construction data and information throughout the lifecycle of assets.
  5. Adhering to standards and regulations of digital information.

Qualifications and Entry Requirements: To qualify for this exciting apprenticeship, you’ll need:

  1. Five GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English, or a Level 2 Apprenticeship.

During the apprenticeship, you will gain:

  1. English and Maths at Level 2.
  2. BTEC Level 3 Construction and the Built Environment or Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment.
  3. NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Built Environment Design.

Progression Opportunities: Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you can progress to roles such as Construction Design Manager, Construction Quantity Surveyor, Construction Site Manager, and Civil Engineering Site Manager. You’ll also meet the requirements for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) or other industry-affiliated schemes.


Professional Registration: This apprenticeship includes the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to achieve Technician/Associate status through professional institutions such as:

  1. Associate Construction Manager (ACIOB) - The Chartered Institute of Building.
  2. Civil Engineering Technician (EngTech TMICE) - The Institution of Civil Engineers.
  3. Building Services Engineering Technician (EngTech LCIBSE) - The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.
  4. Associate Technician (AIET) - The Institution of Engineering and Technology.
  5. Affiliate status- Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.
