Job summary

Citywide Services, Salford City Council's catering service, is seeking an Apprentice Assistant Cook to assist with meal preparation, cooking and serving in school settings. Under supervision, you will learn hygiene standards and food handling while supporting kitchen operations.

Role offers training through a Level 2 Production Chef apprenticeship, plus maths and English at Level 2, with one day weekly at Salford College. DBS checked and progression opportunities are included.

Qualifications

• Full training will be provided for this role and you will complete a Level 2 Production Chef apprenticeship course, hygiene certificate and a level 2 in maths and English (unless exempt).
• To support you in learning to provide a quality catering service you will be overseen by an experienced tutor alongside the Cook Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, simple cook and serve meals.
• Carry out general duties such as cleaning, washing up and storage.
• Support in delivering nutritious, high-quality school meals.
