Job Description
Join the team at IWM Duxford as an Apprentice Conservation Technician (Engineering) and play a vital role in helping to conserve and restore the museum's extensive collection of large industrial objects. This position is essential in safeguarding their historical integrity, ensuring future generations can experience and enjoy them.

Responsibilities:

As an Apprentice Conservation Technician (Engineering), you'll take part in an in-house training programme alongside a formal apprenticeship with an external provider. This will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in conservation.

Training will include learning how to:
- Carry out conservation treatments and techniques
- Use equipment in a way that complies with Health and Safety requirements
- Research historic objects to ensure accurate and appropriate conservation
- Accurately recording all work carried out on projects

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of mechanical engineering and either hold a current, valid, clean driving licence, or be in the process of gaining one (a 6-month grace period will be allowed). You'll be expected to drive museum vehicles as part of the role.
