Job summary

Compass Group UK & Ireland is hiring an Apprentice Chef in Lincoln to join our Defence catering team. This full-time role runs 37 hours per week with rotating shifts, and includes on-the-job training leading to Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications in professional cookery.

You will work under a line manager, gaining hands-on experience and learning from experienced chefs. You will start as a Commis Chef or Chef de Partie apprentice, developing cookery skills, food hygiene, and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery (or equivalent).
• Hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Demonstrate passion for food and enthusiasm for a busy catering environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present dishes to company standards and specifications.
• Ensure food is stored correctly to maintain quality and minimise waste.
• Assist with processing food orders and stock management.
• Receive, check, and store deliveries appropriately.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across kitchen and food preparation areas.
• Operate kitchen machinery and equipment safely and correctly.
• Adhere to all food safety, food hygiene, and health & safety procedures.
• Support the wider kitchen team with day-to-day operations and service delivery.
• Complete food safety checks and comply with food information regulations.
• Undertake additional duties to support an efficient catering service.

We’re currently recruiting for an ambitious Apprentice Chef to join our team and help deliver exceptional experiences at Ashby De Le Launde on a full-time basis contracted to 37 hours per week.

As either an apprentice Commis Chef or Chef de Partie, you will work alongside a passionate and supportive team, gaining hands-on experience while developing your skills through structured training.
