As an Apprentice Cardiac Physiologist you will be required to work under close supervision to gain the experience and qualifications required to become an autonomous practitioner within the CIU department. Training will be provided to develop your non-invasive skills, of which you will be expected to perform unsupervised once reaching a level of competence. Training will also be provided for specialised cardiac investigations such as interventional cardiology, permanent pacemaker implants & follow-up.

The Cardiac Investigations Unit is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and highly motivated individual to undertake a level 6 apprenticeship in Healthcare Science with a view to qualifying as a Cardiac Physiologist. We are looking for candidates who will relish the challenge of being part of the team that will be taking our department forward into the future.
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty-five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.
Successful applicants will be expected to start the degree in September 2025.
Candidates will require a minimum of five GSCEs including Maths and English (certificates must be provided) and 120 UCAS Tariff points at A2 (please refer to the person specification for details). We are happy to accept candidates with A-Level results pending. The ideal candidate would hold a level 3 qualification; however, applications from graduates with science-related degrees will be considered.
As part of the Apprenticeship, you will be expected to undertake a level 6 apprenticeship in Healthcare Science qualification.
Due to the current Government eligibility criteria for Government-funded apprenticeship schemes, we are currently only able to accept applications from candidates who have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years and who are not already in any form of Government-funded education.
If successful after Interview, a BKSB assessment must be completed within 2 weeks of receiving the conditional offer to ascertain you are eligible to undertake an apprentice programme.

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year Annex 21 Band 5 (65%-75% top of band)
