Overview
A Butcher Apprentice will learn how to:
- Prepare, trim, weigh and price up meat;
- Cut and bone a carcase;
- Package meat and store it correctly;
- Discuss different cuts with customers, including how to cook and safely store them;
- Keep the working environment safe and store meat in accordance with health and safety legislation;
- Maintain business records and budgets.

- Training level 2
- Butchery Level 2
- Knife Skills Level 2
- H&S in the Food Supply Level 2
- Food Hygiene Level 2
Requirements / Skills
- Ideally Maths and English GCSE 4's
- High standard of hygiene
- Good communication skills / customer service skills
- Ability to upsell produce
- Safety conscious
- Good hand and eye coordination
Progression / Prospects
- On successful completion of the course, you could progress to the Level 3 Advanced Butcher apprenticeship.
- You could also achieve a permanent employment contract.
