Apprentice Building Surveyor
Orpington, Kent
Closing date - 30 May 2025
As an Apprentice Building Surveyor, you’ll gain practical experience of Building Surveying working across the public and private sector.
Starting in September 2025, you’ll have the opportunity to study for a Building Surveying Degree with a leading University while working alongside and learning from professional expertise. We’ll cover all the costs for your qualification, meaning you can obtain a Degree without the debt! Upon completion of your Degree, we’ll provide support to help you achieve Chartered member of RICS.
It’s not for the faint hearted as the Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship takes 5 years, but you’ll get priceless experience working alongside qualified professionals on various projects and with various client groups during this time. You’ll have a structured training plan, access to a buddy and support from fellow Apprentices, giving you the best possible start to your career.
Interviews are scheduled for week commencing 23 June 2025
What you’ll be doing:
• Attending sites with experienced colleagues to conduct surveys, defect inspections and rectification on a range of refurbishment projects
• Assisting the preparation of reports, contract documents and specifications
•Performing support tasks associated with tender preparation and review of tenders received
•Assisting and ultimately managing handovers including completion/checking of snagging and checking/validating paperwork
•Assisting with costing of projects
•Undertaking reviews of sites to understand and record risks, reporting back to Senior colleagues
•Preparing and updating tracker documents to record progress in relation to various contractual matters such as section agreements, planning and handover information.
•Liaising with clients, contractors and other third parties and assist senior team members with queries
What you’ll need:
Qualifications
• 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grades C+ or 4+ including English and Maths
• Equivalent to 112 UCAS Tariff points at level 3 (ideally including a Maths related subject) or Advanced Diploma in a construction related topic
Knowledge
• Confident user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
• A basic knowledge of building construction or a willingness to learn more about this
• A willingness to learn more about standard forms of contract including the JCT suite of contracts
• UK driving licence and access to transport
Skills
• Professional, proactive and receptive to constructive feedback

• Strong analytical skills and good attention to detail
• Good time management skills
• Good verbal and written communication
• Ability to work using own initiative
• Ability to remain calm
Eligibility for an Apprenticeship
You must have the legal right to work in the UK as we’re unable to sponsor Apprentices. You will not be eligible for an Apprenticeship if;
• You’ve already got qualifications, in the same subject area, that are at a higher grade than the Apprenticeship you’ve applied for
• You’ve already achieved the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for the relevant Apprenticeship qualification
• You’re in full time education (including undertaking another Apprenticeship) in September 2025
• The Apprenticeship you’re applying for duplicates what you’ve already learnt
