Job Description:

Let’s transform society together

We’re future planners, city shapers, urban innovators, digital transformers, net zero chasers, community connectors, social enterprisers and lifestyle improvers.

We’re Europe’s leading design, engineering, environment and regulatory consultancy and we’re now recruiting for Building Control Apprentices to join us this summer/Autumn.

Sweco Building Control is one of the leading Building Control consultancies in England and Wales, having provided client-focused expertise since 1998. As a Registered Building Control Approver (RBCA), we directly employ around 100 Registered Building Inspectors (RBIs), with 13 offices offering national UK coverage.

As an Apprentice Building Control Surveyor, you will study for a BSc(Hons) in Building Control with the University College of Estate Management, which is taught as an online course giving you the flexibility to combine your work and studies to suit you.

What does the role involve?

During your time as an Apprentice, you will spend 80% of your time on project work and 20% of your time studying.

Working with Sweco will give you the opportunity to work on landmark projects and schemes of all shapes and sizes. You will also learn from experienced people who share a passion for working together with our customers to deliver technical excellence.

Our Building Regulation team works on a wide range of domestic and commercial projects, providing opportunities to broaden your expertise and collaborate in exciting, transformational projects with clients and partners.

What do you need to apply?

We are seeking Apprentices who:

  • Have an interest and basic understanding of UK Building Regulations.
  • Have a desire to learn, progress, and challenge yourself.
  • Are able to communicate fluently and positively with clients and team members, and produce clear written documents in English.
  • Possess 96 UCAS tariff points (or equivalent qualifications).
  • Have GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Can work in the UK without restrictions.
  • Are willing to be in the office on non-study days, which is important for your development.
What’s in it for you?

We pride ourselves on quality and technical expertise, demonstrated by our ISO/IEC 17020 accreditation, the first of its kind for a UK building control consultancy. This accreditation reflects our integrity, reliability, and competence.

We have a strong record of training and development, offering an inclusive, friendly, and flexible environment where colleagues are encouraged to grow. You’ll help transform society as a trusted consultant to our clients.

Our Apprentice Degree program links your training to your career path, providing real work experience, professional value, funded training, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

If you’re eager to join a business with genuine career progression opportunities, we’d love to hear from you.
