LET’S TELL YOU MORE
Apprenticeship programmes are a great way to earn and learn! Our Apprentice Assistant Water Network Technician Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the frontline of our business. Entering an apprenticeship scheme with us involves working towards the role of a fully-fledged professional, earning a salary, whilst also being able to maintain a sense of academic achievement. At Severn Trent, we provide the perfect mix between hands-on experience and a formal qualification, enabling our apprentices to make a real lasting difference to our customers and communities, not just for now, but far into the future.
Water Network Technicians work outside across our region to find leaks on our huge network of underground pipes and get these repaired. You will be supported every step of the way, by your line manager and mentor. Working in our water network team, you’ll be ensuring we identify and reduce water leakage across our network. In your daily work, you’ll interact with distribution service technicians and our repair and maintenance technicians. You will also work with our call centres, network optimisation, and contractors. You’ll regularly engage with customers and members of the public which will help you to build your stakeholder relationship management skills.
This apprenticeship standard is at Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A-Level qualifications). If you don't already have GCSEs in English and maths, you will need to take functional skills as part of the apprenticeship, which is an alternative to GCSEs and achieve a Level 2. This will need to be achieved prior to completion of your apprenticeship.
Health & Safety: We take the health and safety of our employees very seriously. This role will require you to listen for leaking pipes; therefore, you will be asked in your application if you have any health restrictions which could impact your ability to hear.
TRAVEL/LICENCE REQUIREMENT
You will be required to have a Driving Licence & access to your own vehicle before completing your apprenticeship as driving is mandatory for your off-scheme role.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS POST APPRENTICESHIP
Following successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will take up an Assistant Water Network Technician role, where you will be able to put your skills into action.
