Apprentice Assistant Practitioner in Diagnostic Imaging (CT)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our trust as an Apprentice Assistant Practitioner in Diagnostic Imaging (CT) and supporting in a university course which commences in September 2025.

We have a post available at Colchester Hospital and a post at Ipswich Hospital.

You will be joining a dynamic, friendly and highly skilled team who value the assistant practitioner role and will make sure there are good opportunities for you to develop and enhance your clinical skills.

You will be working as part of the team to provide a high quality, responsive diagnostic service delivering excellent patient care in line with the hospital's core values.

You must have excellent communication and prioritization skills. High standards of care, compassion, dignity and privacy of patients should be at the forefront of all that you deliver. You must be committed to both personal development and that of the service and have an innovative attitude.

You will join the training programme delivered by Derby University as distance learning to achieve the Level 5 Assistant Practitioner. For this role you will need to work full time, 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

It will take approximately 2 years to complete this apprenticeship during which time you will participate in training, development and on-going review activities. These will include:

  • Completing supernumerary practice and theory hours
  • Formal programmes of lectures, seminars and workshops
  • Completion of portfolios, essays, reflective accounts and projects
  • Access to learning facilities and resources
  • Participation of 3 monthly tripartite meetings with trust & HEI

You will be expected to complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your learning and skills in practice in accordance with the apprenticeship standard. Working under the direction of registered practitioners within multidisciplinary teams you will assist in the provision of care and support, meeting the care needs of the users of the service.
