Vacancy Description

Purpose of Post: Assist the Ranger Team to deliver the aims and objectives of the Ashtead Common Management Plan.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Patrol Ashtead Common in uniform to protect the site and visitors from harm, enforce byelaws, report incidents, remove hazards, and collect litter.
  2. Promote Ashtead Common through routine patrolling, guided walks, and presentations.
  3. Assist with planning and delivering educational visits and activities for organized groups.
  4. Support the Ranger Team in implementing conservation and site management plans by carrying out practical management tasks.
  5. Operate and maintain hand and power tools, machinery, and vehicles.
  6. Support volunteer tasks and lead volunteer groups as needed.
  7. Assist with surveys and monitoring work.
  8. Develop projects and activities by planning, consulting, resourcing, and leading colleagues and volunteers.
  9. Perform routine checks, audits, data gathering, and maintain accurate records.
  10. Contribute to safety systems development, including risk assessments and safe working procedures, ensuring compliance and reporting contraventions.
  11. Engage in professional development and structured training through the Apprentice Programme.
  12. Assist with creating posters, displays, articles, and social media content.
  13. Implement the City of London’s Occupational Health and Safety and Equal Opportunity policies, promoting safety and equality.
  14. Undertake other duties as reasonably requested.
