Job description

Our friendly team at Meallmore are looking for an Apprentice Painter and Decorator to join our ever-growing team in the Highlands. We are a leading provider of residential care services, currently operating 27 care Homes across Scotland. Our high-quality care is individually tailored to residents’ needs, while allowing them to be as independent as they wish.

Your role as Area Apprentice Painter and Decorator at Meallmore will include a 4-year programme of college based and, on the job, learning consisting of:

  • Maintaining inventory of supplies needed to perform job function and follow company ordering processes.
  • Painting, wallpapering, and decorating in our care homes in theHighland Area.
  • Maintaining and repairing painted, wall papered, stained and varnished surfaces of building structures, furniture and equipment throughout the facility in order to sustain a neat and well-maintained appearance.
  • Having a sound knowledge of all aspects of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Working to specified time frames for project completion.

Development and Achievement of Qualifications and Skills to facilitate:

  • Excellent knowledge of paint, varnish, stain, enamels, lacquers, wall coverings, masonry work and other related products as well as application and mixing procedures of such products.
  • Excellent knowledge of hand tools and other equipment including towers, ladders, brushes rollers, scrapers, sandpaper, spray guns, MEWP lifts, etc.
  • Good English language communication skills in order to fully comprehend job assignments, read and understand manufacturer instructions in preparing and mixing paint or masonry products, and adhere to safety warnings.

Remuneration: £12.21 per hour

Hours: 37.5 Hours per week - Occasional late or night working may be required

Locations: Inverness, Daviot, Nairn and Alness. You will need to be able to travel to each of our locations in your own however if you are based in Inverness our Journeyman/woman may be able to arrange to meet you at an agreed location and time

College: Inverness UHI commencing January 2026 on block release with 19 weeks total on the 1st year, 12 weeks on the 2nd year and fully onsite for your final 2 years.

A full UK driving licence is preferable.
