Bolton Council invites applications for a permanent Business Administration apprenticeship within the Registrars of Births, Deaths, and Marriages team. This role sits in Corporate Resources and offers hands-on learning while contributing to a key civic service.
You will gain practical admin experience, prepare certificates, handle ceremony bookings and support the Registration Service. You must not already hold a Level 3 in Business Administration and will progress on successful completion.
Grade B scp 4 £25,185 to scp 6 £25,989 pay award pending
Contract: permanent
Hours: 37 per week
Essential qualification: A full level 2 qualification: e.g., Level 2 Apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent or 5 GCSEs A*-C (4-9) - which must include GCSE Maths and English (4-9, or A*-C) or level 2 functional skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to gain experience in a busy team, whilst also working towards a Business Administration apprenticeship qualification. This role sits within the Corporate Resources directorate and involves supporting the Registrars of Births, Deaths, and Marriages team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who looking to start their career and learn at the same time, whilst supporting a key service of Bolton Council.
You will be part of the administration team, who support the Registrars team, and assist them in a range of key duties, such as preparing copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates, making ceremony bookings and general administration duties relating to the Registration Service.
The successful candidate will undertake a Business Administration apprenticeship alongside this role and as such you must not already hold a level 3 qualification (or higher) in Business Administration or a similar subject. On successful completion of the apprenticeship programme and subject to management review, you would progress into an Administrator Grade C position.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and eager to learn. You must have a flexible approach to work and be keen apply your developing skills and knowledge to a varied and interesting role. You will need to have good communication skills and be organised as well as demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail. The successful candidate must be confident with IT, including Microsoft Office.
