Join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) welcomes an Apprentice Administrative Assistant to join the North West Genomic Laboratory Hub in Liverpool. You will be self-motivated, work well in a team, prioritise workload and communicate effectively while upholding the Trust's values and behaviours.

The role is initially a fixed-term apprenticeship with potential permanency upon successful completion of the programme. DBS checks and adherence to eligibility criteria apply.

  • Collaborate with department to ensure reliable service.

Job description

  • Undertake defined administrative tasks to assist in the delivery of a safe, effective and efficient Laboratory Genetics Service.
  • Act as a main point of contact for service users, answering telephone calls and responding to emails.
  • Dispatch letters and clinical reports by post or email.
  • Archive and/or scan paper filing of clinical referrals, reports and other laboratory documents.
  • Provide other general administrative duties as required within the team and appropriate to the grade.
  • Collaborate with other members of the department to achieve an effective and reliable service.

A exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Administrative Assistant to join the North West Genomic Laboratory Hub (Liverpool Site). We are looking for a self-motivated, hard working individual with the ability to use their own initiative and work well within a team. The successful candidate will need to be able to prioritise their own workload and demonstrate good communication and organisational skills, whilst adhering to the Trust's Values and Behaviours framework.

This is initially a fixed term contract for the duration of the Apprenticeship programme. On successful completion of the apprenticeship qualification, the role will become permanent.

Apprentice Eligibility Criteria
  • Have lived in the UK or the EEA for the last three years continuously
  • If working on a Visa, the remaining duration must cover the duration of the Apprenticeship.

DBS Check

This is a standard process across the NHS and helps us ensure a safe environment for everyone. What is a DBS Check? A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role: Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings. Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that's considered relevant to the role. Enhanced with BarredLists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the children's and/or adults' barred lists. Who Needs a DBS Check Most roles involving direct patient contact, working with children or vulnerable adults, or access to sensitive information will require a DBS check. The Costs for a DBS At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred. DBS Update Service Candidates are also expected to register with the DBS Update Service which must be completed within 30 days of the certificate being issued. Annex 21 Payscale Duration Salary Payable (i) up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75% of the top of the band (ii) more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70% of the top of the band (iii) more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65% of the top of the band (iv) more than three years from completion of training: 60% of the top of the band Starting pay for any trainee / apprentice must be no less than the rate of the main (adult) rate of the National Minimum Wage.
