Job description

Summary
The Company is looking for an Apprentice Accounts Assistant to join their small but growing friendly team. You will support the Client Account Team in a variety of tasks.

Wage
£17,000 a year

Hours Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm, with an hour for lunch. One day per week (to be confirmed) will be spent studying.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Processing of weekly returns received from sites, including reconciling petty cash and bankings received, following up on variances or issues on a timely basis
  • Purchase ledger processing - posting of invoices, supplier statement reconciliations, preparing payment runs, liaising with suppliers
  • Bank reconciliations including petty cash and credit cards
  • Other balance sheet reconciliations and other end-of-month procedures
  • Dealing with adhoc client and supplier queries and requests

What you'll learn

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation's standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

Training will be on a day release basis each week (during term time). Training will be a mixture of remote video tutor sessions and in-person classroom-led training at Eastleigh College.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:
  • English Language (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
