Job summary

Gamma invites applications for a 1 year 3 month apprenticeship in finance at Kings House, Newbury. The role blends study (about 20%) with on‑the‑job work (about 80%), starting 5 January 2027.

You will work with the Gamma Business finance team, preparing monthly management accounts, journals, and reconciliations, with training toward Assistant Accountant Level 3. You will gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, asset management, forex updates, and audit support, while developing

Qualifications

  • School/college leavers or graduates considered for apprenticeship.
  • Experience in finance administration or purchase ledger is a plus.
  • AAT Level 3 preferred with progression to Level 4 possible.
  • Willingness to study while working in finance roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Gamma Business finance team in monthly management accounts.
  • Prepare month end journals for accruals and prepayments.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations and maintain fixed asset register.
  • Update monthly forex rates and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with OPEX reporting and with year/half year audits.

Job description

Summary

The apprentice would support cyclical finance activity.

The apprentice will spend approximately 20% of their time studying and 80% in role. The apprenticeship is likely to suit either a school leaver starting at AAT Level 3 or someone with relevant finance experience or AAT Level 3 already completed who could start at Level 4.

Wage

£15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Hours

The role will follow the team's hybrid working pattern, with three office days per week, core office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, although you may be required to attend the office more initially. Our standard working hours are 9:00- 17:30

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Here are a few examples of what you could be involved with:

  • Provide support to the Gamma Business finance team in the preparation of the monthly management accounts.
  • Preparation of month end journals for accruals and prepayments
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Maintaining fixed asset register

  • Operational expenditure reporting (OPEX)

  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using a range of approaches and media, with an understanding of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

More training information

You will receive our standard company onboarding and induction, plus all the training associated with this apprenticeship. The expectation is 80% of your time will be spent in role and the other 20% on your apprenticeship. Onboarding will involve significant shadowing with the current incumbent, use of training manuals and practice in a test system before completing live tasks.

Other requirements

Potential candidate backgrounds include school/college leavers, graduates, or someone with experience in areas such as finance administration, purchase ledger or credit control. Someone who has completed AAT Level 3 and wants to progress to Level 4 would also suit.
