Summary
We're looking for a highly motivated Accounts Apprentice to support our Finance team. You'll work towards an AAT qualification while gaining hands-on experience in financial and administrative tasks. This is a great opportunity to start a finance career in a fast-paced, growing business with full training and support provided.

Hours Days and times: TBC 4 days at the workplace and once a week at the college.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Accounting Duties

  • Inputting invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Entering Attachment of Earnings (AOEs) and processing related payments
  • Assisting with weekly financial reporting
  • Supporting preparation of weekly reports for period close and month-end
  • Filing, archiving, and maintaining financial records
Administrative Support
  • Completing business stationery orders and managing postage requirements
  • Assisting the Assistant Finance Manager and Accounts Assistant with daily admin tasks and projects
  • Responding flexibly to ad-hoc duties as required
Business Operations Support
  • Arranging hotel and meeting room bookings, parking, and business hospitality
  • Coordinating office maintenance needs, including furnishings, painting, repairs, and carpets
  • Managing orders and requests for company uniforms and PPE
  • Supporting internal initiatives such as employee birthdays, long service certificates, vouchers, and staff recognition
  • Topping up business mass messaging services and ensuring continuity

  • Use the organisation's standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Other requirements

Please note the successful applicant will be required to attend either our Mathew Boulton College or Sutton Coldfield college once a week for your college day.
