Job Description

The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15-month program where apprentices learn all aspects of professional driving and obtain their Category C1 (7.5t) Licence. The goal is to transition to a full-time 7.5t Driver role within DX after completing the apprenticeship. Responsibilities include non-driving duties such as office work, assisting drivers, and warehousing during training.

Apprentices will receive comprehensive training to build their knowledge, skills, and behaviors relevant to the role. Obtaining CPC licenses is a legal requirement to drive LGV vehicles.

Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility
  • Represent DX professionally at all times
  • Complete all tasks required during the apprenticeship
  • Drive vehicles safely and legally, ensuring compliance with all regulations
  • Perform daily vehicle checks, report defects, and complete necessary paperwork
  • Use DX scanning equipment to scan all products
  • Load deliveries safely before leaving the depot
  • Follow DX procedures and policies consistently
  • Manage routing for timely and premium deliveries
  • Use and maintain PPE and equipment properly
  • Report delivery and road issues immediately
  • Ensure deliveries are in excellent condition and handle customer issues politely
  • Make collections according to instructions and schedules
Qualifications/Entry Requirements

Applicants must be 18 or over with at least 12 months of UK driving experience and hold a Category B license.
