Job Description

The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15-month program where apprentices will learn all aspects of professional driving and obtain their Category C1 (7.5t) Licence. Upon completion, there is potential to transition to a full-time 7.5t Driver role within DX. The apprenticeship includes non-driving duties such as office work, assisting drivers, and warehousing during training.

Throughout the program, apprentices will undertake training to develop their knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary for the role. CPC licenses will be obtained as part of the program, which is a legal requirement for LGV drivers.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent DX professionally at all times.
• Participate in all aspects of the apprenticeship training.
• Drive vehicles safely and legally, complying with all regulations and company policies.
• Perform daily vehicle checks, report defects, and complete necessary paperwork.
• Use DX scanning equipment to scan all products.
• Load deliveries safely before departing the depot.
• Follow DX procedures and policies consistently.
• Manage routes to ensure timely and premium deliveries.
• Maintain equipment and PPE in good condition and use them appropriately.
• Report delivery and road issues promptly to the traffic office.
• Ensure deliveries are in excellent condition and handle customer issues politely and effectively.
• Make collections as instructed and on time.

Qualifications and Entry Requirements

Applicants must be 18 or over with at least 12 months of UK driving experience and hold a Category B license. Additional requirements include:

• Minimum of 12 months UK driving experience.
