Job summary

DX Network Services Limited is offering an Urban Driver Apprentice - Category C (Class 2) Driver opportunity in Greater London. The 15-month programme covers professional driving, an LGV Category C2 licence, and hands-on training including office duties and warehousing.

Applicants must be 18+, with a minimum 12 months UK driving experience and a Category B licence. The programme combines on-the-job learning with formal training, and successful apprentices will gain CPC licences during the course.

Responsibilities

• Represent DX in a professional manner at all times.
• Carry out apprenticeship training tasks and duties.
• Drive vehicles safely and legally following all company and legal requirements.
• Complete daily checks and report defects with proper paperwork.
• Ensure products are scanned using DX equipment.
• Load deliveries safely and follow route and delivery instructions.
• Maintain PPE and equipment in good order and report issues to traffic office.

Job Description

The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15-month programme where apprentices will learn all aspects of professional driving as well as gaining their Category C2 (18t) Licence.

Responsibilities include non-driving duties which are relevant to the job role including office work, drivers' mate and warehousing during training.

Apprentices will also undertake a range of training alongside their daily role which will provide a broad range of knowledge about the job, as well as building their skills and behaviours.

Apprentices will obtain CPC licences as part of the Urban Driver Apprentice programme and is a legal requirement to drive LGV vehicles.

Key Tasks/Areas of responsibility

• Represent DX in a professional manner at all times
• Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training
• Drive vehicles in a safe and legal manner ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements at all times
• All daily checks are undertaken ensuring defects are immediately reported and correct paperwork completed
• Ensure all products are scanned using DX scanning equipment
• Ensure all deliveries are loaded safely prior to leaving the depotObserve DX procedures and policies at all times
• Manage your routing to ensure premium and timed deliveries are achieved
• Ensure the correct equipment and PPE, (personal protective equipment) is in good order and used at all times
• Ensure all delivery and on road issues are reported to the traffic office immediately
• Ensure the customer receives their deliveries in excellent condition every time
• Deal with any customer issues in a polite and effective manner
• Ensure collections are made in line with given instructions and times

Qualifications/Entry Requirements

Apprentices must be 18 or over and have a minimum of 12 months UK driving experience, and as a minimum have;

• Category B licence

There are a number of steps to go through to be accepted as an apprentice - if your application is being considered, please be aware that you will have to speak to our partner, GTG, who deliver the training. They will ask you to complete some checks, submit some information and complete an English and Numeracy assessment. If you are successful at this stage, you will then be called forward for an interview.
