Job overview

This is a replacement post to join the established team in continuing to provide a high-quality service. The post is being advertised as a locum post initially, with the potential to become a substantive position in the future. The post holder will work within the multi-disciplinary team, providing and developing care for Children/Young People from the Child Health services, and supporting services for the Trust’s young patients. Additionally, the individual will participate in the department's general workload and be actively involved in teaching and training junior staff.

Main duties of the job

This is a fixed-term replacement Consultant post. The responsibilities include working within the paediatric respiratory and cystic fibrosis teams, providing and developing care and services for patients. Duties include:

• Consolidating the Trust's role as a major provider of tertiary paediatric respiratory services in South London and Southeast, and expanding outreach services based on the existing cystic fibrosis network.
• Advancing research efforts in paediatric respiratory medicine at Denmark Hill and KHP.
• Building a network of centres providing tertiary paediatric respiratory care in South London, with links to North London centres, as recommended by the London Tertiary Paediatric Services Review.

While primarily based at the Variety Children’s Hospital at King’s College Hospital, there may be opportunities for outreach work in the Southeast region. The post also involves contributing to the department's overall workload and dedicating time to teaching and mentoring junior staff.
