Appointed Representative - Senior Associate (Assistant Manager)

It is licensed as a Host AIFM and Depositary in the UK and Luxembourg for private equity, real estate, debt and infrastructure funds.

Langham Hall is hiring a new Senior Associate/Assistant Manager in the UK AIFM business which provides AIFM, Appointed Representative (AR) and Operator Services to entities requiring regulatory cover for activities in managing and/or advising on real estate, private equity, infrastructure, private debt deals, sourcing and negotiating these deals and finding investors for funds and/or collective investment schemes investing in these assets.

The applicant should be familiar with the FCA regulatory compliance regime applying to these regulated activities and/or funds and have the ability to self-learn to keep up with regulatory changes. The role will primarily oversee some members of the AR service delivery team and will be trained for aspects of the internal compliance infrastructure for the Langham Hall entity (acting as the AIFM, Principal and Operator in collaboration with the Head of AIFM and two senior Directors, as well as colleagues).

It offers opportunities to engage in activities such as advising on new legislation and proposing implementations, managing and training junior team members, pitching for new mandates, business development and project management for new initiatives. The role requires a solid foundation in client skills and communication, financial services regulation and the fund universe, plus strong organisational and teamwork abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and management of analysts undertaking monitoring of ARs and day-to-day operation of the sub-team; acts as escalation and knowledge point.
  • Client relationship management including face-to-face, phone and email communications.
  • Assess risks posed by Appointed Representatives and manage resolution/escalation.
  • Manage Risk Committee processes.
  • Assist Compliance Director with internal compliance requirements including regulatory capital assessments, risk assessments, compliance monitoring and financial crime checks.
  • Opine on compliance matters for internal Langham Hall compliance and external fund clients and other entities covered by Langham Hall.
  • Business development and involvement in pitching AR and other regulatory hosting services to prospective clients.
  • Review onboarding processes for Appointed Representatives and Approved Persons (AML and KYC review, UK regulator applications, financial information and analysis).
  • Lead team members to in-person meetings with clients to discuss business plans and regulatory updates.
  • Approval of ongoing monitoring and oversight of all Appointed Representatives.
  • Oversee complex matters arising from review of marketing materials related to investment products.
  • Enforcement and review of analyst output and client-related tracking systems.
  • Collaborate with team to propose solutions to regulatory issues through research and practice.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes and oversee projects to implement required changes.
  • Regular review and update of Compliance and operational policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Any other tasks assigned from time to time or arising from Langham Hall Fund Management and Regulatory Hosting initiatives.

The successful candidate may also contribute to risk and compliance oversight of the AIFM and Operator business and may support the Compliance Director. Knowledge in these areas is beneficial but not essential.
