Job description

Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship at Holy Ghost RC Primary School

We are currently offering a Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship opportunity within our Early Years team. The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the learning and development of our youngest pupils.As part of the Early Years team, the apprentice will assist with setting up the learning environment each day, both indoors and outdoors. They will support children’s individual needs, work with small groups to reinforce learning, and provide nurturing, inclusive support to the whole class.

Apprenticeship Overview:

  • Salary: £7.55 an hour,Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
  • Working Week: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:45 pm with a 45-minute break
  • Hours: 32.5 hours per week
  • Duration: 18 months
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification
  • Online training supported by our dedicated tutor

What you’ll do at work:

  • Understanding safeguarding risks for all children.
  • Engaging demeanour with children.
  • Understanding of health and safety risks when working with children both indoors and outdoors.
  • To be responsible, under the direction or instruction of the teacher or line manager, to work with individual pupils or to work with small groups to supervise the physical and general care of pupils, including those with SEN.
  • To support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.
  • To assist the class teachers with the preparation of tasks that enhance the learning for such pupils.
  • To assist class teachers in maintaining, setting out and tidying away learning resources for these pupils.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification.

Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary.
