Job Description: Applied Scientist - Generative AI at Amazon Alexa
The Amazon Alexa AI team in India is seeking a talented, self-driven Applied Scientist to work on prototyping, optimizing, and deploying ML algorithms within the realm of Generative AI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, experiment, and build Proof Of Concepts advancing the state of the art in AI & ML for GenAI.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and execute technically rigorous AI projects.
- Adapt quickly to evolving technical requirements and deadlines in dynamic environments.
- Engage in effective technical communication (written & spoken) with coordination across teams.
- Document algorithms, methodologies, and findings for transparency and reproducibility.
- Publish research papers in internal and external venues of repute.
- Support on-call activities for critical issues.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in computer science, statistics, or a related field.
- 2-7 years of experience in deep learning, machine learning, and data science.
- Proficiency in coding and software development, with a focus on machine learning frameworks.
- Experience in Python or other languages; command line usage; familiarity with Linux and AWS ecosystems.
- Understanding of statistical measures such as confidence intervals, error significance, and data set development and evaluation.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed, cross-functional team.
- Research publications in AI/ML venues of repute.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience analyzing data to discover patterns and conduct error/deviation analysis.
- Ability to develop experimental and analytic plans for data modeling, use strong baselines, and determine cause-and-effect relations.
- Motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfort working in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Additional Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
- Experience with patents or publications at top-tier conferences or journals.
- Programming experience in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
- Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, parsing, optimization, data mining, parallel/distributed/high-performance computing.
- Familiarity with speech and machine learning techniques.
