Job Opportunity: Clinical/Counselling Psychologist

There is a fantastic opportunity to work with older adults in a secondary mental health setting to help improve their psychological wellbeing and develop a broad range of clinical skills.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our Stepped Care Therapy Team within Older Peoples’ Mental Health Services in Peterborough.

The friendly team comprises Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, CBT Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Occupational Therapy Assistants. We host placements for Trainee Clinical Psychologists, predominantly from the University of East Anglia. We are a proactive team with a strong plan for the further development of psychological services.

The team collaborates with integrated community services, mental health practitioners, the Memory Assessment Service, and the Social Care Team. The role is suitable for both newly qualified and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologists.

Relocation packages are available, subject to eligibility.

Please review the essential criteria for the role and demonstrate how you meet these in your application.

Main duties of the job

The role includes assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions, including specialist neuropsychological assessments where appropriate. The post holder is expected to provide consultation to non-psychology colleagues and engage in multidisciplinary working with both mental and physical health staff.

Opportunities for involvement in wider directorate initiatives are available. We also offer a comprehensive CPD program, supporting members in engaging in additional training such as CBT for personality disorder and psychosis, EMDR, and DBT skills. There is active interest in developing neuropsychological components to support memory assessment.

If you are seeking a new challenge, enjoy variety in your work, and want to be part of a team dedicated to making a difference for our community by supporting older individuals with mental health needs, we would love to hear from you.
