Job description

We are looking for a Microsoft bias IT Application Specialist to work for a large multinational and long-established organisation. Working as part of an IT department, you will be responsible for providing varied technical support to around 2000 users. It is assumed you are a savvy senior support engineer with a good grasp of typical O/S and infrastructure including IIS. This is a very busy team who work closely together, so you must be an excellent team player. The ability to show initiative and take ownership of tasks is essential. An analytical mind and positive attitude is key to succeeding in this role.

Responsibilities
  1. Be a key technical resource for the delivery of services based on a Microsoft application stack.
  2. Handle in-service problem investigation, proactive maintenance, and incident resolution, using the ITIL framework.
  3. Be responsible for quality and execution of support throughout our application estate, mentoring junior colleagues.
Qualifications
  1. Relevant IT Degree OR equivalent industrial experience.
Experience
  1. Proven track record in supporting mission-critical IT systems including line of business application services and preferably within an Enterprise-level environment.
  2. Proven track record of dealing with other IT functions, other business functions, and software vendors/support in resolving application issues.
  3. A proven track record of teamwork demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and an ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical people.
  5. An understanding of the ITIL Framework and ITIL best practices.
  6. Proven track record of working to deadlines demonstrating organisational and time management skills.
  7. Proven track record of producing and maintaining support documentation and procedures.
  8. Demonstrates a willingness to learn new technologies.
Experience in any of the following is essential:
  1. Significant working experience of Microsoft IIS (preferably IIS 7.5 +).
  2. Management of multi-layer load balanced websites (preferably in an ecommerce/banking environment).
  3. Microsoft SCOM monitoring.
  4. SSL Certificates/PKI.
  5. Security vulnerability scanning & remediation.
  6. ITIL foundation.
