ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Cook Compression, with over 100 years of history in the Energy Resources industry, has pioneered technology developments and is renowned for the quality and reliability of its product range, which includes reciprocating compressor valves, packing cases, pistons, rings, and wipers. We supply to OEMs and the aftermarket. With manufacturing sites globally, we are seeking to recruit an additional staff member at our Ellesmere Port, Cheshire facility due to a promotion.

ABOUT THE JOB:

Responsible for integrating engineering and design content of customer proposals and work orders, acting as the primary technical liaison with customers. This involves interpreting specifications, developing engineered solutions, guiding design team members, and checking assembly drawings for accuracy. Assisting other Application Engineers with advanced analysis techniques is also part of the role.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Over 3 years of experience in an engineered mechanical product manufacturing environment
  • Experience with rotating or reciprocating equipment or components such as compressors, turbines, pumps, generators, motors, gearboxes, or similar
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to present to and interface with customers regularly
  • Familiarity with 3D AutoCAD and strong IT skills
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and design practices
  • Ability to develop ideas and solutions, overcoming challenges to meet customer expectations

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Analyze product designs using Dover Precision Components tools, interpret results, and determine optimal solutions for customer requirements. Prepare technical information for new projects per customer specifications.
  • Develop relationships with key customer technical contacts, ensuring early recognition and response to business opportunities. Engage in significant customer interaction regarding project engineering and management, pre- and post-contract.
  • Support development of advanced analysis techniques (FEA, CFD, rotordynamics, etc.) and perform as needed. Coordinate with third-party resources if necessary.
  • Assist the New Product Development team in creating analytical methods for new and improved products, and document processes and tools.
  • Interpret designs, instruct designers, perform engineering calculations, review specifications, and process engineering changes.
  • Ensure successful completion of engineering projects.
  • Assist in preparing engineering project proposals.
  • Participate in client/contractor meetings and resolve project issues.
  • Maintain high engineering standards within the team and support product development.
  • Support process development and manufacturability efforts through specific assignments.
  • Lead training seminars at customer and internal sites, tailoring content to the audience’s needs.
