Certain Advantage is hiring for an Applications Engineer based in or around Glasgow. This role is permanent and offers flexibility – it can be hybrid after probation.

Are you an Applications or Sales Engineer, with experience in with experience in offshore renewables or power transmission? Do you want to work with pioneering technology powering critical infrastructure across renewables, grids, and power networks?

The Company:We’re working with a unique and innovative engineering company developing cutting-edge control and protection systems for renewable generators and grid operators globally.

Their patented hardware/software platform is already deployed across major clean energy and grid projects worldwide – with a pipeline of exciting new applications, from offshore to AI-assisted control.

This is a high-tech SME, looking to rapidly grow after significant investment. It’s fast-paced but supportive, with a flat structure and a strong emphasis on autonomy, collaboration and technical excellence.

The Role:This is a varied role that covers pre-sales, customer support, technical delivery and solution design. You’ll act as the technical bridge between sales, engineering, and the end-user – with a focus on offshore wind applications. The work is consultative and hands-on, involving site visits, proposals, technical presentations and more.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising customers on offshore wind applications and instrumentation best practices
  • Providing technical input on tenders, specs, proposals, and bids
  • Supporting the sales team with compelling, engineering-led solutions
  • Managing technical handover into project delivery
  • Attending UK and international sites for meetings, installs, or commissioning
  • Staying up to speed with the competitive landscape and helping shape the roadmap

The Individual:We’re looking for someone who thrives in a technical, client-facing role, with a background in offshore wind, power systems, or T&D.

You should have:

  • Experience in renewables or electrical power (preferably offshore wind)
  • Understanding of HV cable systems, instrumentation, and protection
  • Confidence preparing and presenting technical documents to internal and external stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel UK and internationally when needed

It’d be a bonus if you also bring:

  • Offshore wind or grid protection sales experience
  • Site commissioning/testing background
  • Familiarity with fibre optic monitoring
  • A Master’s in a relevant subject
